Dartmoor is a beautiful place to explore. The area is filled with trails, hills, and valleys to discover. However, some of the best spots are hidden in plain sight.
Here are five circular walks on Dartmoor, Devon:
1) Walk down to the River Walkham from Two Bridges Cross, where you can enjoy a picnic at the river’s edge and then hike back up.
2) Hike around Cadover Reservoir to visit Cadover Bridge, which was once part of a toll road that connected Tavistock with Plymouth.
3) Take a walk along the South Teign Valley Pathway and stop at places like Lydford Gorge or Valleyfield Mill on your way home.
4) Follow the B3357 road northeast from Okehampton through villages like Upton Cross, Sheepstor, and Harford before turning around at Widecombe-in-the-Moor (this route was used as an alternate route during WWII).
5) Head over Dartmoor’s highest peak, High Willhays Tor, to see Sharpitor on a clear day—it’ll be worth it!
